Front Door Plan

This summer has been hard on our front screen door. The screen ripped a couple weeks ago and the girls began to stick their heads out as if they were working a fast food drive through. Pretty fun for them but not cool for the long term.

We decided to get a new front storm door and the search began.  This is what our old door looked like.

Nothing special, but it opened and closed and stuff.

Anyway, I had an idea in my head of what I wanted but was having a hard time finding it in person.  I am not the type to order a front door sight-unseen from the internet.

And then I found this little number just around the corner from my house.

After installation:

Along with working on the front window, I've been working on the front door in hopes that I can finish both before the snow flies.

Here's the official plan:

I'm trying to locate an antique brass mail slot as well, something along the lines of this.
And while I'm at it, I may refinish the front door.  I am just crazy enough to do that.

Oh, and I totally want this doormat.  Just putting it out there in case anyone would like to buy me a gift.  Anyone?

Plus, it has fancy British spelling.

  1. I am a huge fan of wood doors not being painted. I love the deep dark stain you used on that front door. You really have to be excited about the change compared to that white door. Not only does it look amazing, it is more secure, and those brass fixtures really do make that door the focal point of the house.
